Numerical optimization of production processes by additive manufacturing technologies
NOPTIMA acts as an enabler of optimised mould production through optimisation of cooling conditions and flow restrictions in injection moulding. The challenge is to create designs for AM mould inserts that will yield in a significant reduction of cycle time (~30%), improvement of process productivity and product quality, and finally highly energy saving due to enhanced efficiency of the heat transfer.
The aim of the experiment is to
- numerically optimize and build 3d printed insert metal injection mold
- use conformal cooling channels
- procuce water supply fittings as a demonstrator of the tool path
