Development of extremely high-temperature-resistant flow probes manufactured by AM


The goal of the Extremely High Temperature Probes “ExHiTemP” feasibility study is the manufacturing and testing of aerodynamic flow probes, which can withstand flow temperatures of up to 1500°C. The experiment has a run time maximum of 6 months.


The challenge:

  • Measure flow in combustion chambers.
  • Find printable materials with high melting points >1500°C.
  • Sufficient residual strength >1500°C.
  • Apply cooling in flow probes.
